Be the Welcoming Face of Galileo Place!

Play the piano? Violin? Guitar? Didgeridoo?  Like to sing? Come show your skills for a group of seniors at a local facility! Many of our partner senior homes/board and cares have needs for enrichment, please consider this as a wonderful volunteer position!  You can make the time work for your schedule and YoloCares would be VERY GRATEFUL for your time and talent!

Might you be willing to pick up produce and flowers and bring them weekly to Joshua's House from our offices?  This could also be a shared job, ideally 4-5 people, going once a month.  If you can drive over there, it takes about 25 minutes, depending upon traffic.  It woudl be lovely! RSVP and I will email/call you with details.

77 year old hopes to have a volunteer to go grocery shopping with him. He cannot life items out of the cart or shelves. We cannot drive pt's but we can meet at the store and provide that kind of help.  Might you be willing to do this kind thing for this kind gentleman?

If you are a country lover, come take a gentle drive up North of Davis and join this pat on her daily walk around her 10 acre property.  She also would like help gardening....how fun for an outdoorsy volunteer! Never will you hit traffic (most likely). This sounds like a fun volunteer opportunity!

58 year old woman who speaks Spanish primarily hopes to have support from a volunteer.  She is non-verbal but alert and can nod yes and no. 

We have a lovely 92 yr old gentleman wishing for an older adult visitor who can help him with computers.  Someone good at teaching an older adult how to use his computer. This person is chatty and intellegent with a past in ministry. He has a young volunteer who he likes and also hopes to have someone older who he can identify with.  If this sounds like a good fit for you please call the volunteer manager and explore before you "respond" thanks.

This is a unique pt. he is young, 38 and is terminal. What he asks for is for someone to rub his legs as they are no longer working and they feel better when they have pressure applied to them.  You need to feel comforable with this, it is a service to him. He is very sweet and chatty as well. He lives with his family who adores him and is devistated by his situation.  This is a brief visit each time, but SO important to him.  Might you be willing to ease his sufforing in this way? I need a patient volunteer to be with a 79 year old female. She is sweet and has very little memory. Weekends in the afternoons are preferred. MIght you have it in your heart to hold space with this patient?

73 year old Spanish speaking female hopes to have someone come and play her 70's Spanish music. She is most alert between 2-4pm otherwise she is very sleepy.  An hour visit will be plenty for her as she tires easily. She also appreciates someone reading the Bible to her.  Sweet family to know!  Let me know if you might match with them.

We have an 88 yr old male who is bed ridden. A huge Raiders fan, loves to talk football.  Some confusion, but can converse.

We have a 68 year old male palliative patient residing in his home, diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Patient is alert and oriented and struggles with shortness of breath. Patient has two dogs in the home. Searching for a volunteer to provide socialization.

We have a 71yo woman living at home with protein calorie malnutrition who caregiver (daughter) is requesting a female volunteer for companionship, emotional support,caregiver relief, and shopping/errands. Patient lived with dogs in the home.

Our wonderful team over at Galileo Place adult day program are searching for compassionate volunteers
who are willing to lead art and music classes.

The Adult Day Program (ADP) is held at Galileo Place. It is an adult day facility that provides respite care, socialization, and enrichment activities for elderly adults and adults with mild cognitive impairments.

The hours of the ADP are Mon-Fri 9:00 am-3:00pm.

The Adult Day Program is looking for volunteers who would like to socialize and support the clients attending ADP.  You will work with the volunteer coordinator at Galileo Place to find your fit at the program.

Our marketing department needs support! We put together packets of information and need them done regularly. If you can come in, anytime you wish, and assemble packets for us- we would be so grateful!

Substitute or Assistant Group/Event Facilitation

Help our team capture the responses collected by the caregivers we serve at one of the many retreats we offer. You will simply be coding responses into a smartsheet, using our laptop at the offices, an hour per event.

Scheduling to be handled by the Center for Loss and Hope's (CLH) staff, during office hours, the week after our retreats. The CLH staff will be there to help you know what to do.

An hour of your assistance is needed, the week of:

March 20th

May 8th

July 17th

September 18th

November 6th

Volunteers are needed to assist the Center for Loss & Hope on an ongoing basis, at the end of every month, to assemble and post their Grief Mailers to be sent out to clients.

The day of the week and Time are flexible depending on your schedule and that of the Center for Loss & Hope. 

Work is done onsite at the YoloCares' offices and occurs during regular operating hours, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

Shifts are estimated to be 2-4 hours, 1 day a week, every month.

Capacity for up to two volunteers to assist.

Help our Bereavement Department and our patients' loved ones by assisting in this essential service of YoloCares.
