We are seeking a kind and patient volunteer with guitar-playing experience to provide companionship and teach basic guitar skills to a 96-year-old palliative patient. The patient, a Navy veteran, is alert, oriented, and eager to learn how to play the guitar. He resides at home with his wife, who is his primary caregiver.
Details:
- Location: Patient's home in Woodland, CA.
- Activities: Provide companionship and teach the patient basic guitar-playing techniques. Your presence will bring joy and help stimulate the patient’s love for music.
- Special Notes: The patient has a history of A-fib and CHF and is experiencing a gradual physical decline. He is receptive to learning but may need a little patience and encouragement during lessons.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of guitar playing and a willingness to teach.
- Compassion and patience, especially when working with elderly individuals who may have physical or cognitive limitations.
- Ability to engage in light conversation and provide emotional support.
